The California Civil Rights Department has finally updated their website to announce that the 2023 Pay Data Reports from CA employers will be due by Wednesday, May 8. The Pay Data Reporting Portal is currently unavailable due to required maintenance, but is set to re-open for reporting starting at 8:AM (Pacific) on Thursday, February 1.
Note that the supporting materials (user guide, FAQs, etc.) all still reference the 2022 reporting cycle, so it is unclear at this point whether or not anything will change from last year’s filing process.
California requires all employers with 100 or more payroll or “contractor employees” (generally, “workers”) to annually submit data on the pay, hours worked, and demographics of their employees. As simple as that sounds, however, determining whether or not your organization is required to file and, if so, which workers must be included in the reporting can be tricky.
