It has been several years now since we have had a “normal” EEO-1 filing season, so perhaps it should come as no surprise that the deadline to file 2019 and 2020 EEO-1 “Component 1” data has now been extended until Monday, August 23, 2021. Filers are still encouraged to submit and finalize reports as soon as possible.
Biddle clients and consultants have reported several unique challenges when attempting to upload and certify EEO-1 reports this year, and several have reported they are (and have been for some time) waiting on responses from the EEO-1 Help Desk over a variety of technical issues and error messages.
Filers are asked not to contact the EEO-1 Help Desk more than once regarding the same issue. Doing so will not speed up the response; quite the contrary, it will slow things down even more for everyone. If you are unable to file due to technical issues requiring assistance, you will be allowed to file, even if the resolution of your issues happens past the new filing deadline. Note that despite references to “Component 1,” there is no “Component 2” for the 2019 and 2020 EEO-1 reports. Component 2 compensation data reporting is still suspended, though there is speculation that Component 2 reporting may still be revived in some form or another in the coming years.
