At a time when companies increasingly recognize their responsibility to the communities in which they operate, Biddle Consulting Group (BCG) stands out as a shining example of corporate philanthropy with a commitment to social development. As such, BCG leadership regularly offers support to organizations employees hold close to their hearts.
When given this opportunity, one of our employees shared their experiences and positive outcomes through a local organization. Unbeknownst to leadership, this individual experienced domestic violence and became homeless last year. Enter Robin Moore, founder of WEforce Inc’s Safe Harbor, who quickly intervened by providing a safe space, shelter, and immediate guidance.
Safe Harbor is a charitable organization, born in 2019, in the heart of Robin Moore. When she saw her community overrun by homelessness, Robin hatched a plan – in her own backyard. Her mission was to provide safe housing for families in need, by way of four tiny homes and an edible garden, in the caring and watchful eye of her property. In the last quarter of 2022, Safe Harbor celebrated the success of its fifth family. Current totals, as of late 2023, are over 20 families served.
When BCG leadership learned of this success story including one of their own, approval for outreach was given. The BCG family of employees banded together, and with leadership matching funds, a whopping $5,840 was raised.
Patrick Nooren, pioneer, and President of BCG didn’t just write a check, he followed up the financial donation with a request for greater understanding. He invited founder, Robin Moore and board members James Moore, Pastor Greg, and Christine Jefferson to lunch at BCG. As he learned more about the WEforce organization, in terms of its future for development and success, he presented a forward-looking agreement to align BCG resources with Safe Harbor’s mission, “to support marginalized populations by offering assistance in navigating barriers for positive sustainable outcomes.”
In today’s climate, where corporate social responsibility is more important than ever, BCG’s commitment to Safe Harbor by WEforce serves as a striking example. The undertaking Robin Moore and the Safe Harbor board members demonstrate through the foundation is an affirmation of the power of giving. Patrick’s innovative Biddle Bucks program is sure to deepen this commitment and make a positive impact on the lives of those served by Safe Harbor.
Looking to the future, the partnership between BCG and Safe Harbor offers great promise. It emphasizes the possibilities and hope generated by corporations and organizations coming together with a shared vision of giving and growth. WHAT WE DO MATTERS.
