This week, Lori Lee, BCG’s Director of Marketing, volunteered at the Placer County Office of Education (PCOE) Resource Fair to help families in need get ready for the return to school. I was able to donate a few new backpacks and assist with sorting and stacking clothes, clean-up, and customer service (helping families shop and assisting where needed).
The Resource Fair makes it possible for students to get free backpacks, school supplies, clothing haircuts, children’s books, and any necessary vaccinations, among other things. Placer County Food Bank handed out some food, Paul Mitchell School of Cosmetology students gave haircuts, breakfast and lunch were catered by local restaurants. To top it off, each family was given raffle tickets when they checked in and PCOE raffled off various gift cards to local establishments such as Target, gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants. It was a pretty impressive event.
