Dispatcher Personality Testing
Finally, a Personality Test Designed Specifically for the Dispatcher Position
The existing personality tests in the dispatcher space typically fall into one of two categories: generic tests criterion validated for dispatch, and content validated dispatcher tests.
First is the generic personality test, written as a one-size-fits-all test and then validated for hundreds or thousands of positions. Anyone who runs an emergency services dispatch center, or works at one, knows that the dispatch world is an entirely different animal as compared to most other realms. One size doesn’t fit all. The dispatch realm deserves a custom test that has been authored for and tailored to this specific environment.
Second is the content validated personality test. Personality tests are NOT to be validated on content, they are to be validated on criteria. What this means is that personality tests must be statistically correlated to certain critical aspects of job performance, not merely linked to the job by content alone, such that those who score in specific ranges are more likely to be successful than those who do not.
CritiCall’s personality test isn’t just another generic personality test. It was designed with 911 dispatchers, calltakers, and telecommunicators in mind, with content that fits well with that of the dispatch environment. As well, the validation project spanned the US and Canada and involved ~250 incumbents from a variety of centers, so that our clients can know that the CritiCall personality test will offer them both a high degree of utility (that the test will work well for selection purposes) and a high degree of defensibility (that the use of the test for selection purposed is abundantly documented given any challenge to its use.)
