Some Biddle employees and their families joined about 1,000 runners and walkers in the 5K 9/11 Run to Remember event held in downtown Sacramento on September 8, 2019. For some, this event is an opportunity to exercise their vow to “Never Forget” those who lost and sacrificed their lives in one of the most tragic events in our country’s history.
On this beautiful Sunday, people of different age groups, sizes, colors, race, and ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation, ability and disability all came together and showed solidarity in keeping the memories of not only those whom we lost, but also the heroes in uniforms, the medical community, and the ordinary and not so ordinary folks who tirelessly helped without regard to their own safety. This event reminds us of at least two principles that keep our nation great—the passion and compassion of its people.
The run/walk started at exactly 9:11 am and winded through downtown Sacramento’s scenic routes, including a view of the Sacramento River. Two of Biddle employees, Phil Akroyd and Oscar Martinez, finished the race ranking 3rd and 4th respectively in their groups. Way to go Phil and Oscar!
Biddle also participated in donating items that will be sent to our troops abroad.
